CALCIUM

You need to have adequate calcium intake to have healthy bones (normally 700-1000mg daily). You get calcium through your diet and supplements are available if you have low dietary intake. Check out this handy calculator


VITAMIN D

Vitamin D is necessary for healthy bones. 10 uG (micrograms) or 400 IU (international units) is sufficient for adults and can be taken as a daily supplement. Avoid higher doses unless advised by your doctor.


DEXA SCAN

We can refer for a dexa scan to assess your bone density. This is a very low radiation scan which takes only a few minutes to complete. We will discuss the results and options for management if low.
